8th AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL

AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL is the younger sibling to Wroclaw’s T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival and it is the only showcase of films solely devoted to the works of contemporary and classic American cinema in Central Europe. Since 2010 it presents independent discoveries and American classics, tributes to the likes of John Cassavetes, Shirley Clarke, Clint Eastwood, Nicholas Ray, Orson Welles and Billy Wilder whose retrospectives have been organized in the past. During this year’s edition the festival will present the first retrospective of screenwriter, novelist and film director Samuel Fuller whose extraordinary career and an extraordinary life has been an inspiration for great filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Jim Jarmusch. This year the program again includes hot titles brought to Wrocław from international film festivals – Sundance, Berlinale, Cannes, Venice and Toronto such as mother! newest film by Darren Aronofsky with Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence; coming-of-age drama directed by Luca Guadagnino Call Me by Your Name with Armie Hammer and Good Time by Safie Brothers in which Robert Pattinson gives a career-best performance. Audiences in Wrocław will also, for the first time in Poland see the latest film by of its favourite directors and Audience Award winners in 2014 – Gillian Robespierre’s Landline as well as The Little Hours, a charming comedy written and directed by Jeff Baena with wonderful cast starring Aubrey Plaza, Kate Micucci,  Alison Brie, Molly Shannon and Dave Franco. In the past, AFF was selected as one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World by the MovieMaker Magazine.

Festival passes are now on sale until 15th of October 2017. Full programme will be announced at americanfilmfestival.pl on 11th of October 2017.
