Baltic Mini Textile Photostory

I think that the times when fabric and textile were considered as pure craft are long gone. It is a full-fledged field of art. It is the language of communication with the viewer, a way to convey emotions, and a field for experiments. Fabrics are objects, reliefs, paintings and the only difference is that instead of paint, fibre or thread was used. Sometimes only the idea of thread and warp was used, exceeding the traditional concept of fabric. Do you think that we can consider braided wires as a fabric?

It seems that next to ceramics, the fabric is experiencing a real boom. The creators try to reinterpret its meaning and possibilities. After a period of oblivion, it offers the greatest opportunities for the development and redefinition of technology. The small scale let artists experiment more boldly. They can create filigree, detailed-reach oeuvre. They use various techniques or invent a new one. During the Baltic Mini Textile we could see high-quality hand-made objects which are very complex, sometimes very delicate and almost ephemeral, but always jubilee-like works.
