Description
Eastern Block is collection of paper cut-out models representing various modernist buildings in Warsaw, Poland. The series is made up of iconic examples of functional architecture (Rotunda PKO), some less classic buildings, however, familiar to the city dwellers (Za Żelazną Bramą, Smolna 8, Mokotów), as well as “Wielka Płyta” prefab bloks from the outskirts (Tarchomin). The whole set is eco-friendly as it is made from 100% recycled paper. Each building is hand-drawn and includes a short technical note on its architects, year of construction and exact location. Released: 2014.
Zupagrafika`s realisations stem from conceptual simplicity, purity of form and content coherence. We have a special bond with architecture, typography and paper.
Zupagrafika is a Hispano-Polish creative design studio set up in 2012 in Poznań, Poland. The studio was founded by David Navarro out of his passion for the Polish Poster School. Their paper cut-outs and other objects are inspired by modernist & brutalist architecture and Polish industrial design icons, in the form of theme based series.
