Discussion ‘Collecting Contemporary Art. Investments of Passion.’ was organised by Contemporary Lynx & Polish Cultural Institute in London and took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland on the 24 May 2016.
The discussion between Jack Melkonian (art collector based in Switzerland), Georgina Adam (Financial Times & The Art Newspaper Columnist), Kamila Naglik (Valuation Manager at Sotheby’s) was chaired by Sylwia Krasoń (editor-in-chief of Contemporary Lynx Magazine).
The panel discussed the benefits of collecting; what attracts enthusiasts to start buying art; what is the feeling of purchasing the first artwork and what else counts beyond aesthetic and emotional value. The panelists also spoke about Polish art market and the presence of Polish contemporary artists on the auctions and international art fairs.
