“Embroidered Heart”, Maja Kitajewska

In her work, Maja Kitajewska uses mainly sequins embroidery. Thanks to this technique, she can achieve the shining effect and give her objects a new dimension. The ‘Heart’ is made of glass embroidery and reminiscent of a human heart full of veins and vessels. The shiny object is sensitive to the changing light. The glow gives the impression of a ray of mystic breath. ‘Heart’ is full of contrasts/opposites where the fetish mixes with the mystic. In the result, the work is a sensual fusion closed in one object. Isn’t that akin to a perfect definition of love?

“Hands of the Table”, Agnieszka Grodzińska

Agnieszka Grodzińska works mainly in painting, drawing and installation. When asked about one of her intriguing works, the artist described it as: “The work “Hands on the table” (about 16 x 16 x 13 cm) consists of a small metal table and rubber finger pads.” The game’s scale makes the objects mistaken for condoms or they resemble them to the illusion. The object derived from a series of “Pedagogical objects” and is somehow a reverse of our first association. The artist undertakes a creative game with a traditional model of perceiving contemporary art. On Valentine’s Day we can stick to our first association.
