THE NEW YEAR’S SUMMARIES

The end of the year is the perfect time to stop and make a top ten list. The year provided many projects. The huge family of Contemporary Lynx comes from 155 countries and speaks in over 139 languages and we all need art everyday!

THE CHANGING FACE OF WARSAW’S ART SCENE

The rising number of exciting exhibitions, publications and other art initiatives proves that Warsaw art life has changed for the better, and ‘private’ galleries play a very important role in keeping it that way.

MAESS. BEAUTY OF DECAY

Warsaw-based artist Maess presents her series of drawings „Abnormal results” at Platan Gallery in Budapest. We asked Maess to share her views on applied techniques, inspirations and experiences behind these works.

FIVE YOUNG CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS TO WATCH

Catch these five artists born in the 80s and check out their practice. They are nominees to Views competition – 2015 edition. The Views is a project supporting the development of young Polish art.

QUADRATUM NIGRUM – A SUPREMATIST MASS

Very often happens that important things or beginnings of artistic movements, changes, and dialogues start just outside our doorstep! So we would like to present very intriguing Polish emerging artists.

WOJTEK BLECHARZ: THE SOUND IS NOT ENOUGH

My first impression after listening to No More Stories was that it is an absence, which is actually a presence. There was a strong emotional tension in it. It was completely dark, completely sad.

ZOFIA RYDET – DISTANT ROADS

Zofia Rydet was born in 1911 in the city of Stanisławów (currently Ukrainian). The characteristic feature of her’s works are their topics which focus entirely on ordinary people and their life. The artist’s works are recognized not only in Poland…

MAGDALENA ABAKANOWICZ: BAMBINI

‘When examining man, I am in fact examining myself… My forms are the skins I strip off myself one by one, marking the milestones along my road. Each time they belong so much to me and I belong to them (…)’

JOANNA PIOTROWSKA: HIDDEN EMOTIONS

We visited Joanna Piotrowska’s exhibition „How are you”. Piotrowska touches the issue relation between women and men – of domination and objectification of men. The photo shoot was made in Nairobi in cooperation with Fundacja Razem Pomoja.

THE HEART OF PAINTING

Laure Roynette Galerie hosted a project by Sandra Mulliez. The Heart, an exhibition featuring the work of Polish painter Radek Szlaga is the second collaboration to take place between the SAM art foundation and an artist of Polish origins.

KAROLINA JONDERKO – PORTRAITS OF TIME

Karolina Jonderko begun her adventure with photography working with her father’s old Zenith. What distinguishes her photographs is their huge emotional load, and their simplicity, which coincides with their message.

RAFAŁ MILACH: PHOTO-EYE

Photographer, documentarian, visionary, curator, lecturer and, above all, artist – these are the words that sum up Rafał Milach. Milach belongs to a new generation of photographers. In 2006 he co-formed the group Sputnik Photos.
