PANEL DISCUSSION

Ewa Axelrad: Shtamah

A panel discussion at the gallery on Thursday 16 November, 6:30pm will explore the problematic subjects of brothers-in-arms, group mentality, the allure of nationalism, and other ideas raised in Ewa Axelrad’s current exhibition, Shtamah.

Speaking with Ewa Axelrad:

  • Fatos Ustek – Independent curator and writer. Projects include fig-2, ICA London, 2015; Art Night, East London, 2017.
  • Joseph Constable – Assistant curator, Serpentine Galleries and independent writer. Recipient of the Whitechapel Gallery’s 2015 NEON Curatorial Award.
  • Anthony Gardner (Moderator) – Head of the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University; writer and editor of the MIT Press journal ARTMargins.

The exhibition will be introduced by Sylwia Serafinowicz – Shtamah curator, writer (Artforum, OZY, ArtMargins)

Axelrad is currently nominated for the Views 2017 Deutsche Bank Foundation Award, and her presentation is on display at Zachęta National Gallery, Warsaw. The exhibition follows recent presentations at Bold Tendencies, London; Wroclaw Contemporary Museum; and The Ryder, London. Her work and exhibitions have recently been included in Elephant, Art Forum, Art Review, and This is Tomorrow.
