Poznań: Poznań Art Week 2018
May 25, 2018 - June 1, 2018
POZNAŃ ART WEEK 2018
POZNAŃ ART WEEK, which will have its second edition between 25 May and 1 June, will create an opportunity for Poznaners, for guests and for all interested in participating to experience different forms of visual arts.
The program consists of a number of exhibitions, meetings with artists, workshops and concerts organized across Poznań. There will be over 30 participants – including galleries, contemporary art centers and exhibition areas One of the highlights of PAW will be End of Year Exhibition at University of the Arts Poznan. POZNAŃ ART WEEK 2018 is also a stage for artistic debuts and for ephemeric actions and temporary initiatives. And this is why POZNAŃ ART WEEK is the only artistic event in the capital of Wielkopolska that brings together creators and cultural activist working the field of visual arts in one program.
The theme of this year’s edition will be the multidimensional concept of REDISTRIBUTION. On one hand, it refers to a number of ‘re-practices’ that consist of appropriating and reinterpreting images, symbols and culture patterns. On the other hand, it is closely related to question of influence that social and political factors have on the process of culture-shaping. The theme also relates to
the distribution of media content, especially if this content cannot be easily categorized as art or did not receive the approval of art institutions. The aforementioned meanings of REDISTRIBUTION create an additional level on which we can understand this concept – in terms of the public debate on universal values and their replacement. Ambiguity of the main theme allows POZNAŃ ART WEEK 2018 to become a starting point for a discussion on culture, art, their influence and social distribution of goods.
In this context every sign of artistic expression is a visible evidence of Poznań bustling art stage.
POZNAŃ ART WEEK 2018 is organized thanks to the support of University of the Arts Poznan, The City of Poznań, the government of Wielkopolska Voivodeship, The Ministry of Culture and Cultural Heritage and Fundacja Rarytas.
