Wear Polish: Acephala, Diligent, Pat Guzik

The distinctive Wear Polish fashion show is a yet another event organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute to promote Polish fashion brands. The Polish showcase will include young Polish designers selected in cooperation with Fashion Scout: Acephala, Diligent and Pat Guzik. Developed over the past few years, their fashion collections are a promise of immense foreign market growth. Each of them have been building their own visual codes, relentlessly generating their individual and unique artistic DNA. In manufacturing, all three brands account for sustainable development and social responsibility of the fashion industry – they collaborate with local producers and craftsmen, and use sustainable high-quality materials. Some have gone so far as to reach for reused fabric; Pat Guzik is a case in point, operating on the ‘recycle-reuse-love’ principle. The Polish showcase is a presentation of dynamic designs, both creative as well as crafted consciously and responsibly. All brands will be showing their Spring/Summer 2020 collections.

ACEPHALA

Acephala is a Warsaw-based brand founded in 2014 by the duo Monika Kędziora and Bartek Korzeniowski. It’s a conceptual brand with a feminist mission and sustainable approach. Acephala is recognised for creating collections which subvert stereotypical notions of femininity. We create tailored pieces with experimental proportions and witty detailing. Each piece is carefully constructed and produced using the highest-quality textiles selected for their distinctive textures and sensual touch. The signature of the brand includes sculptural designs and textural mixing. Suits, shirts and shirt dresses as well as printed tops are our clients’ favourites. From 2016 onwards, Acephala has expanded its regular clothing line with limited editions of accessories: socks, clutch bags, scarves and belts. A sustainable approach to fashion design is integral to Acephala.

DILIGENT

Colour, unusual cuts, and boldness in design – such a blend best describes the style of DILIGENT, a brand driven since 2015 by the Szymon Mrózek-Marta Pospieszna duo. Diligent is primarily about feminine forms, anchored in the borderland of notions determining the design of modern-day ‘luxury’, inspired by the street fashion of cosmopolitan cities, contemporary art, and nature.
The brand portfolio includes a men’s line. Male design is but a supplement, most notably as the Made to Measure offer.
Diligent is planning a premiere of the new UNIFORM line for the 2020 season, an aesthetic mix of ready-to-wear everyday fashion and traces of the brand’s typical avant-garde. The designer duo delivers limited-edition collections; their conceptual art form helps accentuate any individual on a quest for distinctiveness and forceful expressiveness in fashion.

PAT GUZIK

Pat Guzik clothes are designed in accordance to the sustainable fashion rules. The “Streetwear” line has been made with unique patterns that allow efficient use of materials and the elimination of textile waste. We do not want to contribute to the millions of tons of waste that the garment industry produces in Europe annually. We work with local textile producers and seamstresses and manufacture locally.

My “Reconstruct” line is made of second hand clothing. As simple as that. I invite you to send me your unwanted garments because I want to engage everyone collectively to join forces in making fashion industry less harmful. We also use an alternative souring of the textiles (second hand garments, stocks textiles, productions leftovers) Our collections are based on strong values i.e. responsibility, local production, cooperation and transparency.
