Photographic memory – open call

The Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, SHS Research Group UJ Section of Contemporary Art (“Współczesna”) organise an open-call Photographic Memory for young artists (up to 35 years old). The author and curator of the project is Emilia Kutrzeba.

What is the role of archives in the modern world? The importance and significance of archival materials posed alongside the questions: can a film medium record the truth? Why and how much do we need to record and reconstruct memories? Has the significance of archival materials changed in today’s socio-political situation? From micro to macro history, from personal to social narratives – how can photographic memory be interpreted today?

The purpose of the open call is to collect applications and to select video/film/animation works, lasting up to 5 minutes, by young artists who respond to the motto Photographic memory in their productions.
