Skopje: The Warsaw Tigers

December 10, 2014

The Warsaw Tigers. The Power of a Team.

The MoCA—the first-ever monograph on the founding, design, and construction of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Skopje available on-line.

The Competition for the Design of the MoCA was organized in 1966 in Poland. “The Warsaw Tigers” (Wacław Kłyszewski, Jerzy Mokrzyński, and Eugeniusz Wierzbicki) were the authors of the winning proposal.

The book prepared by the Polish Embassy in Skopje tells the story of the MoCa building, whose design was, in fact, a Polish donation to the ruined city of Skopje. It contains unique archival materials and photographs from the MoCA archive, as well as the State Archives of the Republic of Macedonia—Skopje Dept.

The original exhibition „The Warsaw Tigers. The Power of a Team” was opened in May 2014 in Warsaw, Poland. It was prepared by the Polish Association of Authors (ZAIKS) and the City of Warsaw’s Office of Culture. The preparation of the Skopje version of the exhibition was financed by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
