The Ateliers is pleased to announce the artist talk of Monika Sosnowska.
Monika Sosnowska (b.1972, Ryki, Poland, lives in Warsaw) is best known for her large sculptures, exploiting the mysterious grace of engineered architecture. These industrial skeletons, ungrounded and unhinged, seem to crumple, to bend, and to contort, something ghostly resonates from them. Recent solo shows took place at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art (Moscow, 2020), Saarlandmuseum Moderne Galerie (Saarbrücken, 2020), Zachęta (Warsaw, 2020), The Modern Institute (Glasgow, 2019) and Samdani Art Centre and Sculpture Park (Daca, 2019). In 2003, Sosnowska was awarded the Baloise Art Prize. The artist was shortlisted for the Hugo Boss Prize in 2012. She is represented by Galerie Gisela Capitain (Cologne), Hauser & Wirth (London, Zürich) and Kurimanzutto (Mexico, New York).
