Berlin: Markul

September 18, 2014 - September 21, 2014

abc art berlin contemporary
18—21 September 2014 Station-Berlin

The installation “Untilted” consists of steel panels attached to the wall and organic objects. Their mysterious content reminds of fossils or remnants of the ancient world. Working with so called poor materials such as felt or wax, Angelika Markul transforms what was once industrial into something animal, mineral or vegetal.

In contrast to the composition of aligned panels, the artist presents entangled organic shapes situated in a glass-case and objects made up from leather, lines and stirrups covered by wax hanging on the wall.
Variety of relations between the linear panels and the organic objects invites visitors to discover the exhibition space in a new, exciting and unique manner. Via the installation Angelika Markul formulates her own archaeology within the notions of time, memory, and transformation of things. Due to the orchestration of the exhibition space, visitors can percei¬ve directly and gradually the obscure and enigmatic world of the artist.
