Exhibition of Tomasz Milanowski
On the 19th of November, 19:00
Tomasz Milanowski (born in 1972) was studying painting between 1993-98 at the Warsaw University of Fine Arts. Among others he was taught by S. Gierowski and J.Modzelewski. He took part in different solo and group exhibitions both in Poland and abroad. For instance his works were exhibited in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, at the Melnikov Gallery located in Hedelberg. Furthermore, Milanowski had exhibitions in Budapest (in 1997), Minsk, Brussels, London, Warsaw (Muzeum Powstania Warszawkiego), Cracow Olympia Gallery, Poznan Focus Gallery. He got his Phd degree in 2012.
At first sight, Milanowski paints simple objects with little importance. His works can be connected to several topics: „With my paintings I am trying to express systems of forms that create biological associations, seemingly chaotic, dynamic forms that are falling apart. These forms are like mutated cells that lead us to the situation when the body system does not function. With my works I am trying to emphasize the ambiguity and the versatility of the forms. My works are experiments to try to create order.”
