Join us at the Wigmore Hall on 21 April fot the Gala Concert in #SupportofUkraine, as renowned artists and composers come together to help raise funds for
SOS Children’s Villages’ Ukraine Appeal, in hope that this contribution can bring some solace to thousands of refugee children affected by the conflict.
Featuring music by Frederic Chopin, Sir Andrzej Panufnik, Platon Mayborda, Roxanna Panufnik, Myroslav Skoryk and Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Chaconne” – UK premiere of Jeajoon Ryu’d transcription for piano trio.
When words fail music speaks. Renowned artists and composers come together to support and raise funds for the SOS Children Villages’ Ukraine Appeal, in hope that this contribution can bring some solace to thousands of refugee children affected by the conflict.
The programme features a selection of music pieces by renowned composers who themselves experienced the fate of migrants, refugees, and were vocal critics of war and violence: Frederic Chopin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Sir Andrzej Panufnik, Platon Mayborda, Roxanna Panufnik, Myroslav Skoryk.
Invited musicians include:
- Award winning, one of the world’s great oboists, Nicholas Daniel OBE (oboe),
- Winner of the 7th San Marino International Piano Competition, semi-finalist of the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition Lucas Krupinski (piano),
- Recognised as a truly exciting and versatile violinist Leticia Muñoz Moreno (violin),
- Multi-award winning cello prodigy Kacper Nowak (celo),
- Acclaimed british mezzo soprano Kathryn Rudge (mezzo-soprano),
- and a chamber musician, pedagogue and BBC Radio 3 regular Maria Tarasewicz (piano)
will be joined by the Orion Orchestra String Quartet musicians expressing solidarity with Ukrainian people fighting for their freedom.

The event is in response to the refugee crisis that is touching tens of thousands of children and vulnerable families affected by war in Ukraine. More than 162,000 Ukrainian children are institutional or foster care and more than 16, 000 are in need of immediate support in terms of safe heaven, evacuation, food and medical and psychological assistance.
This concert is organised by the Polish Cultural Institute in partnership with The Ludwig van Beethoven Association, LSO (tbc), Marylebone Music Festival, Orion Orchestra, Lady Camila Panufnik, Roxanna Panufnik, Royal Academy of Music and the Wigmore Hall with the support of the Marylebone Hotel and Wiszniewski Family.
All net proceeds from this event will be donated to SOS Children Villages’ Ukraine Appeal.
