HEX Collective

group exhibition

Lotna Gallery

February 14 March 28

The first joint exhibition of the HEX Collective recalls ancient grimoires that conceal accessible knowledge about magic, spells, but also about mysterious journeys “on the other side”.

HEX collects magical images and words, and treats them as tools that allow us to gain knowledge about the world around us. The central place of their exhibition is a magic circle, in which, according to the rules of ancient magic, words turn into action, and the action leaves its mark on reality. In their art, HEX follow the trail of magic, witches, but also old and forgotten deities. With obvious fascination, they look at horned creatures, tenderly stroke slippery ceramic flower petals, and meticulously listen to the stories hidden in the bellies of ritual figurines. Drawing on the thousand-year tradition of magic, they create their own extraordinary land, combining motifs from different histories, eras, but also sensitivities. Thanks to this, we can immerse ourselves in a fairy-tale land, full of references, but also amazing characters, creatures who are just waiting to reveal stories about ourselves to us. MANIFESTO

HEX Collective is an artistic group of six people, established in the spring of 2024. The central focus of our collective is the practice of magical thinking, which aims to induce the expected change and deepen intuition to facilitate the natural flow of life. We were united by our common interests in art, magic, alchemy, mythology, folklore and broadly understood esotericism. We deeply reflect on the spiritual relationship that connects us with the Earth and the non-human world. We meet regularly to create a space of mindfulness for the exchange of our artistic and magical experiences. The Circle of Conversations established in this way allows every voice to be heard and respected. We believe that today we especially need common rituals and meetings in the circle to practice the art of coexistence and communication, remaining in opposition to the chaotic energies of consumption and the noise of electronic media.
