Mela Hilleard has just returned from the 12th edition of the Hommage à Kieślowskiin Sokołowsko, where her first full-length documentary, HOME had a press screening. This 95minute film, made from footage shot over a 7 year period has the visual poetry and emotionalintensity of the great man himself, but is startling for the use of a hand-held camera and totallyunscripted events, upturning the cinematic rules of how a documentary should be made.

SYNOPSIS:
The feature-length documentary ‘HOME’ is an attempt to answer one of the most vital questions in all our lives: what is the meaning of home?
The film focuses on family, identity, emigration, as well as the circle of life, death and rebirth. The axis of the film is a house which connects and shelters, which allows the lives of the characters to be transformed.
Its inspiration was a seven-year collection of films and photographs covering the lives of a handful of people, who are creating home and finding love at the house of a 90-year-old, bed-ridden writer, in suburban London.
