The International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR in Poznan is the largest animated film festival in Poland. The first edition took place in 2008 and was the culmination of the 60th anniversary of Polish Animation celebrations. During each edition of the Festival, over 300 films from around the world are presented, including retrospectives, reviews, premieres or rarely shown works of animation pioneers.
In 2017 ANIMATOR received the status of an Oscar® qualifying festival.
The invariable aim of ANIMATOR is to popularize knowledge, heritage, new trends and innovations in the field of artistic animated cinematography and to present an interdisciplinary, ambitious program combining animated film with other fields of art and science.
At the very heart of ANIMATOR lie the competitions, accompanying the Festival since its inauguration: the International Short Film Competitions, the International Feature Film Competition, the International Animated Series Competition, and the Polish Animated Film Competition.
17th IAFF Animator will take place in Poznań June 25-30, 2024 at the Kino Muza and other locations in the city center. This year, the Animator Festival is looking towards artificial intelligence and the works that began to be created with its participation. In the section titled ARTIFICIAL INTUITION, from over a hundred submitted works, we will see films focusing on the impact that AI driven tools have on creativity and close relations. The Festival will also be an open platform for discussion about changes in understanding of human identity and its invention.
