Pothers is a slang term used to describe unusual events and situations, fights and commotions. When they occur in the Subcarpathian town called Krzywcza on the San River, shrouded in smoke they rise from under the brush of Karol Palczak. The swirling veils make the scenes experienced by the painter and his characters unreal. These peculiar, unrealistic and at the same time true documents of the Subcarpathian twilights make you reflect.

Beauty and horror, melancholy, anxiety, decadence – the Palczak’s paintings are filled with these impressions. In November 2021, on All Souls’ Day, these impressions will take over the Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. They will free us from urban troubles and lift us into the misty expanse of Subcarpathian sky.

Exhibition poster is illustrated by the painting “Dym” from Galeria Bielska BWA collection.

All presented paintings obtained thanks to the courtesy of the artist, Galeria Bielska BWA and collectors.
