A MUST SEE exhibition! 40 countries, cities and territories at Somerset House from 4-23 September 2018 will reveal how design influences our emotions.
A highlight of the global design calendar, London Design Biennale will see some of the world’s most exciting and ambitious designers, innovators and curators gather in the capital to show how design impacts our very being and every aspect of our lives.
In response to the theme Emotional States, participants from six continents will exhibit engaging and interactive design installations across Somerset House. In an exhibition of outstanding ideas and creativity, international design teams will illustrate how design can challenge, delight, educate and surprise.
Poland: A Matter of Things
For 2018, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute will present an installation investigating the phenomenology of human emotion. A selection of ten objects chosen from Polish history will reflect how these everyday items arouse strong feelings and explain their association with collective Polish euphoria, joy, anger or despair.
The items chosen will resonate strongly with the Polish psyche, but as emblems, not necessarily obviously or rationally linked to the events they accompanied. Today, in an era of intercontinental migration, it is still – and perhaps increasingly – necessary to decrypt the meaning of things in order to be familiar with the cultural codes of a given community or nation.
