Natalie Portman, Oscar winner, actress, producer, author of the bestseller, mother, and activist, will come to Poland at the invitation of Impact’23 – the most important economic and technological congress in this part of Europe, which will take place in May 2023 in Poznań.

The actress, widely known and appreciated for her film roles in Jackie or Black Swan, is successful in many artistic fields. She is preparing to produce her first television series in partnership with Apple TV+ titled Lady in the lake, which will be the actress’s television debut. Born in Jerusalem and raised in New York, a psychology graduate of Harvard University, she combines her film career with social activities, supporting several humanitarian initiatives.

Natalie, a confessed vegan, was the executive producer and voiceover for the documentary Eating Animals, which examines humanity’s food choices in favor of giving up meat. Most often, however, it acts on behalf of women and girls, advocating for their rights, demanding that their role in social and political life be noticed and that optimal working and development conditions be created for them. Her commitment has resulted in, among others: for four years working for FINCA International, an organization that provides small loans to women entrepreneurs in many countries, allowing them to take up professional activity and thus be able to support themselves and their children, which Portman herself called:

…the greatest gift that can be given to a woman struggling with poverty.”

The actress is also the founder of the Angel City Football Club in the US National Women’s Soccer League. Currently, Natalie Portman is an ambassador for the International Rescue Committee (https://www.rescue.org/), an organization that helps people affected by humanitarian crises – including the climate crisis – survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Founded at the behest of Albert Einstein in 1933, the IRC now operates in more than 40 crisis-stricken countries, as well as in communities across Europe and the Americas. It provides health care, counteracts inequalities women and girls face and supports children in learning to become self-sufficient.

In 2020, Natalie Portman wrote the book “Fables” which quickly became a New York Times bestseller. The modern interpretation of classic fairy tales was born out of a private need of the actress, who, as a mother, noticed a discriminatory problem in the content of the fairy tales she read to her children. On April 23, on the initiative of Impact, the Polish edition of the book will be published by the ZNAK publishing house. The proceeds from the sale will be used to finance programs supporting children’s access to psychological care implemented by the TVN Foundation.

Natalie Portman, in her first public speech in Poland, will talk about her social activities to the participants of the tenth edition of the Impact congress. Portman is not the only personality with international recognition who appreciated the scale of Impact, thus confirming the leading position of the event in this part of Europe. In addition to Natalie Portman, the special guest of Impact’23 will be Nassim Nicholas Taleb, one of the most widely read economists, author of the best-selling Antifragile, as well as an outstanding historian, head of the history department at Columbia University, and director of the European Institute, Adam Tooze.

In previous editions, participants included: one of the most important contemporary thinkers, prof. Yuval Harari, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

Impact’23 will once again become a democratic platform for meeting the most important speakers, leaders of business, science, politics, technology, medicine, or art, to address, discuss and seek solutions to the most important issues related to the economy, technology, ecology, culture, or social changes.

Impact’23 means as many as 5,000 participants, 500 speakers, and seven stages where the most current topics will be discussed within 20 tracks, inspiring solutions related to Woman Empowerment, Health, Mental Health, and well-being, Green Economy, Energy, Global Economy, and Banking, Startup and Investors, Marketing and Media Insight, Food tech, Digital Future, Mobility and Art and Culture.
