NO HUMAN IS ILLEGAL is a charity auction organized as a spontaneous, solidarity-led response to the current situation of refugees in Poland.
We invited leading Polish artists to produce one-of-a-kind garments. The auction will feature several dozen pieces of clothing made specially for the occasion.
Featuring patterns and interventions executed in various media, they come as the artists’ spontaneous reaction to the humanitarian crisis at hand, and since these are clothes and accessories meant to be actually worn, they also make it public, raising awareness and spreading the message.
Proceeds from the auction will be allocated towards supporting the activities of the Bread and Salt initiative and the Conflict Kitchen Foundation, which through their aid, integration, and education projects help refugees get back on their feet and forge a new life in Poland after they have been released from refugee centres.
We want the auction and its goal, i.e. raising funds for these charities, to be a kind of direct action, an act of resistance against an inefficient state system and the government’s (anti)migration policy, which we oppose.
The auction will take place at the Zachęta – National Gallery of Art on 3 October at 12.00 a.m.
