ART HOUSE

ONLINE RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is announcing an open call for proposals for Art House – online residency programme, inviting Polish digital and visual artists to reflect on adapting in the times of the new normal.  For two months, together with world-renowned curators they will be developing their concepts for new projects. The effects of their work will be presented at this year’s Digital Cultures – Imagined Futures conference.

In the time of the pandemic, artists and curators have been working in isolation more so than previously. “Art House – online residency programme aims to serve as a platform that will gather not only Polish artists but also world-renowned mentors from around the globe. It will open up an opportunity for artistic exchange and knowledge transfer, so crucial for creative growth, and yet abruptly put to a halt by the widespread cancellation of exhibitions, shows, and festivals. Networking has always been at the heart of the Institute’s activity. Now, fostering this process is more important than ever.” – says Barbara Schabowska, acting director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

Numerous organisations launch online exhibitions and programmes. Wanting to ensure that the authenticity of a project is maintained, and not simply lifted from once part of a physical exhibition platform to now an online one, resulting in a loss of depth, we will look further into commissioning and understanding artist’s needs”. – adds Joseph Cutts, artist, and one of the programme’s curators.
