MICHALINA BIGAJ
DISINGENUOUS NATURE
The starting point for Michalina Bigaj’s project are ‘models’ of man’s cohabitation with nature. She is fascinated with the idea of botanical gardens and their architectural design as changing with time. These are the spaces in which man’s desire of sounding the mysteries of nature meets with the attempts at taming wilderness. Artificial space for the contact with nature emphasizes the illusion of man’s control over the unbridled forces of nature. The exhibition room has been transformed into a garden, an ‘oasis’ filled with objects which by ‘pretending’ nature become its contemporary representations.
