Tjuvlyssnat / Gumowe Ucho / Eavesdropping
There are dialogues and stories intercepted in the public space in Poland, and these reflect today’s atmosphere like mirrors. These truths about everyday life in Poland told by hairdressers, clerks, taxi drivers or tram passengers create something we could call “map of wisdom of Polish Folklore”. The exhibition also gives visitors an overview of today’s most interesting Polish illustrators. Each artist has his/her own anecdote and total artistic freedom in interpreting and in execution.
The idea for an exhibition and an illustrated book appeared already in 2010 (seventeen illustrated stories). Now it’s back in the form of a book and an exhibition, this time with twenty-one illustrated stories. Some are new, others have been published in the journal earlier, and some were in the first booklet seven years ago.
21 of Poland’s most interesting young illustrators – some are already known, others are at the beginning of their careers. A short biography of each illustrator is available at the exhibition.
