Tremors” is an artistic story about the multi-sensory experience of architecture, the individual feeling of space. About the fact that the St. John’s Centre is not just a monument, but above all a place of sensory experience. A place that resonates with individual experiences and encoded cultural patterns that visitors carry with them as they cross its threshold.

The tremors of the title are susceptible to individual, highly varied interpretations. The vibrations can be planes, images or sounds. Vibrations also accompany all particles, perceived as smells or tastes. Trembling is also our body’s reaction to certain experiences or sensory stimuli. It is a sign of awakening, the release of inner energy, fear, joy, excitement or extreme emotion.

The perception of architecture, whether through its spatial dimension, its multitude of material variants or its acoustic properties, is undoubtedly a complex process. Today, the importance of holistic, multisensory perception is emphasised. The classical Aristotelian division into five senses has long since been abandoned and today we distinguish between many more. They do not work in isolation from each other, but constitute a set of cognitive receptors. The perception of space is also influenced by the individual characteristics and experiences of each user.
