New Media Night – a large-scale mapping show that will be part of Museum Night 2018 at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology
“We’re counting down the days to the start of the eighth Museum Night at the PJAIT,” says Filip Ostojski, event curator. “For one night only, the front wall of the main PJATK building will be transformed into a projection screen – it’ll be lit up and the façade will visually ‘dance’ to the rhythm of the music. The event is being put on by students at the PJAIT Multimedia Studio who are adapting their animations to the surface and architecture of the building to create a subjective impression of illusion.”
The is all the result of a new collaborative effort between Echo Innovation Space and the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology. The programme aims to support educational projects and ventures involving the latest technologies, along with science in synergy with art.
In case you missed it, the programme for this year’s Museum Night at PJAIT includes premieres of visualizations, graduation shows, interesting archive projects and interactive mapping. Thanks to the Kinect technology, viewers will be able to manipulate the images and geometry displayed on the building for themselves.
“Echo Innovation Space is a place to develop activities related to art, new media and technology, so the collaboration with PJAIT, which educates new media artists and programmers, is consistent with the aims of our foundation,” says Nicklas Lindberg, CEO of Echo Investment, co-founder of Echo Innovation Space. “On Museum Night, we’ll be treated to an amazing show that’s the result of the hard work, ingenuity and commitment shown by the best young specialists in their fields. We want to support and promote talents like them.”
The show starts on Saturday 19th May at 8.30 pm at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, on ul. Koszykowej 86, with the projection premiere at 10 pm. The artists are Filip Ostojski, Olesia Pankiv, Jacek Walczak, Agnieszka Warcaba, Hubert Wencel, Martyna Werner and Damian Ziółkowski.
