Recordings is a three-year programme of film screenings offering an insight into the practices of the international avant-garde. The idea is not to present films about art as such but rather live recordings of actual performances, happenings, concerts, street actions and ephemeral practices from the intersection of the visual arts, theatre and music. The programme’s second edition features materials relating to the avant-garde movements of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Stage shows, small-scale performances, land art projects, and happenings staged in the streets of New York, Warsaw or Zagreb exemplify the practices of radical men and women artists, whose provocative, alternative art now forms the canon of twentieth-century visual culture. The screenings are accompanied by an exhibition of photographic documentation.
