selected works for the Dresden Stadlishe Kunstmuseum (Hoffmann Sammlung),
Once again the Schenkung Sammlung Hoffmann and the Lausitz Festival are realizing an exhibition with selected works from the collection.
This year’s exhibition is titled “Aufbruch. Fragmente” and will be on view from August 26th (opening day) to September 18th, 2022 in the Kavalierhaus in the historic park of Bad Muskau near Görlitz.
Turmoil, upheaval, new beginnings – their origins and manifestations are as varied as their consequences. The contemporary art works brought together for this exhibition (from the Schenkung Sammlung Hoffmann, the Art Collection of the Free State of Saxony, and the Brandenburg State Museum for Contemporary Art), reflect this complexity and address various aspects of these themes. The broad range of works on display portray the escape from societal expectations and pressures, formulate the possibility of alternative value systems, depict resistance and its reception, or make clear the inherent discontinuity of travel and exile. A common thread is the recognition that our lives in the world are malleable and subject to change, forming the basis for leave-taking, movement, turmoil, and upheaval. The fragmentary visions of these themes in the art works provide food for thought and open new associative dimensions. At the same time, they often refer to specific historical conditions and events.
