On 19 and 20 October, Wroclaw’s tenement buildings will once again be transformed into giant screens displaying works by new media artists from around the world. This year, audiences can look forward to not just one, but two unique nights of great programming, excitement and shared viewing of moving murals.
Contemporary Lynx Award at the Kinomural Festival
An honourable mention in the OPEN CALL section will be awarded by the Contemporary Lynx editorial team. The award consists of an interview with the artist in the Contemporary Lynx Magazine.
Kinomural has become a festival that guarantees a unique experience. Thousands of spectators visit the futuristic open-air gallery together. They watch the works with concentration or, on the contrary, discuss and comment vigorously. The festival amazes and delights. I know of no other festival that takes place outdoors and shows works on such a gigantic scale. I think that is what makes this festival special. The works here are not shown in a cinema or gallery space. Casual viewers can interact with them and perhaps open their minds to something they don’t encounter every day, especially on this scale. They see it as art and not, for example, as a marketing product. – says Becca Keating of New York’s Pioneer Work Museum. Robert Seidel, an audio-visual artist from Berlin, adds: I am surprised. It’s special to see a city being used and becoming a projection screen. I have seen many festivals of light and projection art, but this event is unique. I’m glad I was able to experience it.
