The Mark Rothko 2025 International Painting Symposium will be held on September 12–27, 2025, in Daugavpils, Latvia. The symposium commemorates Rothko’s birthday in his native town and spotlights Daugavpils as a creative, rich hub for contemporary artistic practices.

You will have the opportunity to discover the place Rothko spent his childhood, learn about Rothko’s background and see his originals in the museum’s Rothko Room. This inclusive platform for discussion and learning is a wonderful opportunity for channelling these influences into new artworks, which will be exhibited and remain in the museum’s collection.
