Exploring Emerging Polish Photography: Highlights from the Polish Photo Brunch in Paris

On November 10th, the Polish Institute in Paris, in collaboration with partners including the National Film School of Łódź, the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań, and Contemporary Lynx magazine, hosted an event – “The Polish Photo Brunch“. Held at the Institut Polonais in the heart of Paris, the morning unfolded as a celebration of the Polish photography scene, offering attendees a unique opportunity to delve into the works of young artists and explore photobooks from the top Polish publishers.

The event started with a presentation showcasing the talents of emerging artists from the National Film School of Łódź and the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań. Attendees were treated to a visual feast as two lecturers, Hubert Humka (Łódź) and Jarosław Klupś (Poznań), unveiled the thought-provoking works by their students and graduates, providing insight into the rich and diverse landscape of contemporary Polish photography.

After the presentation, the guests explored a curated selection of photobooks encapsulating the essence of Polish creativity and storytelling.

The featured publishers included 19 Rivers, Blow Up Press, Łódź Film School Publishing House, PiX House, Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań, Zinteka and Uncontemporary. Each of these publishers presents a unique perspective, showcasing a diverse range of photographic styles and thematic explorations. From the raw and powerful narratives captured by 19 Rivers to the avant-garde expressions presented by Blow Up Press, the event provided a comprehensive overview of Polish photography’s dynamic and evolving world.

“The Polish Photo Brunch” in Paris fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas and inspirations among photography enthusiasts and professionals. The event showcased the richness of Polish photography by bringing together emerging talents, established publishers, and a diverse audience.
