September 25 – September 27
After five years, FRINGE Warszawa is entering a new phase. The grassroots initiative, which since 2022 has supported, connected and promoted Warsaw’s independent art scene, is expanding its year-round programme. From 25–27 September, independent galleries, artist-run spaces and studios will once again open their doors to the public. At the heart of this year’s activities is the creation of an online platform that will serve as a knowledge base for Warsaw’s independent art scene.
FRINGE Warszawa was founded in 2022 by a group of independent Warsaw-based art spaces to increase the visibility of activities operating outside the mainstream. From the outset, it has offered an alternative to the commercial art circuit, bringing together artists, collectives and grassroots initiatives that contribute to Warsaw’s independent art scene. Year by year, FRINGE has grown rapidly — the most recent edition featured more than 95 projects taking place across different parts of the city, demonstrating the significance and dynamism of Warsaw’s independent art scene.
In 2026, FRINGE is expanding its year-round activities aimed at supporting and connecting the artistic community. Throughout the year, the initiative promotes the visibility of events organised by independent spaces and collectives, brings the community together and organises open community meetings. The monthly Community Meetings provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, establish collaborations and meet people active in Warsaw’s art scene. Alongside these, a series of Artist-Led Community Meetings is taking place, hosted by selected artists in their own creative spaces.
One of the most important projects being developed this year is an online platform dedicated to the independent art scene surrounding FRINGE Warszawa, bringing together information about current and archival events — from exhibitions and pop-ups to performances, experimental projects and happenings. The platform will become a year-round source of information about Warsaw’s independent art scene, as well as an archive documenting the development of the FRINGE community’s activities. It will feature an events calendar, as well as a record of exhibitions and events from the past four years.
On the last weekend of September (25–27 / 09 / 2026), for the fifth time, we invite you to FRINGE Warszawa, featuring more than 50 participating initiatives, and to the accompanying WEBSITE LAUNCH PARTY (26 / 09 / 2026, 8:00 PM) at Teatr Komuna Warszawa. During the event, we will present the new platform mapping Warsaw’s independent art scene. Paulina Mirowska will create a screen print based on the visual identity of FRINGE Warszawa 2026, designed by Sonia Górecka.
