March 21 – March 23
This year’s international fair for contemporary art in Vienna’s MARX HALLE promises to be another exciting and successful weekend: From 21 to 23 March 2025, 90 galleries from five different continents will present works selected exclusively for SPARK. The artists’ works will be on show in the customary manner as solo presentations. The fair offers a global spectrum of contemporary art, ranging from painting and photography to innovative and interactive mixed-media exhibitions. Rounding off the event’s diverse programme is a variety of inspiring talks and also a family day on 23 March.
This year’s fair is all about the interplay between tradition and the future, artists and the public, and people and technology. Artistic directors Jan Gustav Fiedler and Walter Seidl are looking to provide a stage for both up-and-coming talents and established artists: ‘Our democratic exhibition layout, with equal stand space for everyone, not only promotes equal opportunities, but also gives visitors the opportunity to engage more deeply with the works on display.’
International galleries, including Nächst St. Stephan, Krinzinger, Lombardi-Kargl (Vienna), Konrad Fischer (Berlin/Düsseldorf), Dirimart (Istanbul), 1 Mira Madrid (Madrid) and Fonti (Naples) will be presenting an impressive selection of artists: from established greats such as Lois Weinberger, a visionary who has blurred the boundaries between art, nature and society with his works, to Sanja Iveković, a pioneer of feminist art and Gregor Schneider, winner of the Golden Lion at the 49th Art Biennale in Venice. Up-and-coming talents such as Vera Klimentyeva, Lunita-July Dorn and Laura Killer have also not been forgotten, having the opportunity to present their innovative ideas for the first time in such a prominent setting, planting the seeds of pioneering future trends.
DIGITAL INNOVATION AND INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES SPARK
Art Fair Vienna 2025 will explore new perspectives by seamlessly combining art and technology. The Smartphone Orchestra, a project that transforms smartphones into a unified musical instrument, will provide a collective experience. Participants will be invited to use their devices to become a part of this impressive work of sound art.
