During Greenhouse 2016 in Stockholm Kosmos Project will show their objects created as a part of the exhibition entitled Irrational Times. The Polish-Swedish project , dialog with designer Petra Lilja in collaboration with curator Magdalena Popławska built on mutual influences of ancient culture of the Slavic and Scandinavian, nowadays observed in cultural similarities between Polish and Swedish. Kosmos Project’s inspiration runs from Slavic mythology, legends, and the techniques used in the found elements of material culture. The kilim entitled Mokosh hand weaved from Polish wool colored with natural plants locally collected by designers. The second project – cupboard entitled Żmij. Żmij is a half-snake, half-bird creature of eagle claws and golden wings. The cupboard is the symbolic horizon line lacquered into grey-blue tones with copper ornament on the doors. The third object – the hanger divided in to tree sections refers to the idea of three division of cosmos. The object have been produced in technique of wood turning and it has been hand painted by designers. All objects explore traditional techniques as well as modern ones, talk about the ancient times by the filter of modernity. In our times more than ever before the past combines with the future and the irrationality gets very ambiguous meaning.
