The Polish Institute in Paris and FOTO-GEN Gallery, the Gallery of the Culture and Art Centre in Wrocław in collaboration with Paris Photo, Photo Days and Contemporary Lynx Magazine invite you to the exhibition VILLA POLONEZ organized as part of the POLISH PHOTO BRUNCH.
When: from 8th November until 15 December
Where: The Polish Institute of Paris, 86 rue de la Faisanderie, 75016 Paris
The title of the exhibition is an allusion to the polonaise – an elegant, historical dance symbolising pride and identity, which becomes a metaphor for slow but inevitable change. The exhibition concentrates on the latest Polish photography, which reveals architectural and symbolic spaces that were once associated with splendour and prestige but are now undergoing transformation and deformation. Here, Polonez suggests a dialogue between history and the present, between life and transience, posing questions about the meaning of heritage in a world entire of change.
VERNISSAGE OF THE EXHIBITION:
The vernissage will take place on Friday, November 8th, from 11:00 to 13:00.
The program includes: a guided tour with the curator, meetings with artists, brunch, and a presentation of photobooks from Polish publishers.
