Mikołaj Małek (b. 1983) is a painter, illustrator, creator of installations. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where in 2017 he obtained a doctorate. He lives and works in Warsaw. The artist’s works are created on the margins of painting and sculpture. He often uses found materials. His creative method assumes the accumulation of remains after the breakdown of microcosms or memory loss. That’s why Małek uses deliberately imperfect forms, does not avoid mistakes, or makeshift solutions. Individual works are arranged in constellations, and the installations consist of drawings and objects.
