W1 Radio: Meet Darsi, moving smoothly through genre boundaries

Darsi’s relationship with music started early, digging through records while still at school and picking up anything that caught his ear from places like WHSmith and Our Price.

Kiss FM soon opened the door to a much wider world. DJs including Paul “Trouble” Anderson, Norman Jay, Steve Jackson, Colin Dale and Gilles Peterson became key influences, while nights such as World Dance, Metalheadz at the Blue Note, Plastic People, Ade’s Balance and Co-Op formed an important part of his musical education.

Darsi

That curiosity still drives him now. Darsi’s sets move freely through boogie, disco, Brazilian, Afro, funk, house, nu-disco and everything in between, without much interest in genre boundaries or sticking to one sound.

For Darsi, the DJ is never supposed to be the main attraction. The music comes first. His role is simply to connect the record, the room and the people.

Good music. Real connection. No bullshit.
