On the 26th April was the premiere of a new experimental art programme ‘Carte Blanche’ in Warsaw launched by LETO, Contemporary Lynx Magazine and Biała.
The idea is to give young promising artists an opportunity to exhibit their works during the special art events happening at the former avant-garde modernist villa — ‘The White Villa’ located in Saska Kępa district in Warsaw.
First event:
26.04. 2018 — Igor Kubik
Igor Kubik (b. 1992) holds a degree in graphic design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He mainly creates illustrations and drawings. In his works, he reduces objects and situations to the form of simplified icons or symbols, deliberately emphasising their flatness. His illustrations are full of biting jokes and carry critique and irony. His characters turn out to be his [K1] alter ego; they frown at reality and balance between uncertainty and circus acrobatics.
He holds a scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. His illustrations were published, among others, in “Przekrój”. He collaborates with the Polish Film Institute, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, and the National Centre for Culture Poland. His works were presented, among others, as part of “Coming Out” (2018) at the Rondo Sztuki in Katowice (2016) and the “Second National Exhibition of Graphic Characters” (2015-2016). ) He lives and works in Warsaw.
