Born in Soho and raised on late nights, good taste, and questionable decisions, it’s a platform where DJs, artists, and talkers come to do what they actually want, not what an algorithm politely suggests. One minute it’s jazz, the next it’s underground electronic, then someone’s casually unpacking politics or arguing about ’70s records like it’s life or death.
We don’t just play music — we film it, document it, and throw it back into the world with a bit of attitude. No gatekeeping, no fake polish, just real people with something to say and the nerve to say it on camera — says the founder, Błażej Dziedzic.
Think of it as part radio station, part studio, part cultural mischief.
Ilya Semple:
Intern, writer and aspiring journalist – Ilya is impassioned, always, by glowing cultural landscapes and the embers that emerge from contemporary artistic developments. As a recent graduate and current intern at W1 Radio, he is currently committed to immersing himself in this industry, gaining experience and knowledge that will help shape a career focused in music and media. Ever since he could talk or walk, Ilya was either blowing into a harmonica or twirling around records – and it wasn’t long before he was spinning them himself; “music has always been the passion of my life and the pulse in my heart”. Now, through writing, blogging and creative perspectives, Ilya looks forward to contributing his work to media outlets in London and beyond.
Błażej Dziedzic
Blaze moves through London’s cultural scene with two distinct alter egos, each with its own microphone. As Blaze The Paps, he is the sharp tongued commentator who dives into politics, activism, and the messy realities surrounding culture and society, never shying away from uncomfortable conversations. It is the side of him that asks difficult questions, challenges institutions, and brings a slightly rebellious energy to the airwaves.
Then there is Babooshka Boi, the music loving counterpart who runs deep conversations with artists, DJs, and producers. Through interviews, DJ sessions, and radio shows on W1 Radio, he creates space for musicians to share their stories and connect with new audiences. As the founder of W1 Radio, Blaze blends radio, video, and live events to build a platform rooted in Soho’s creative spirit, championing emerging talent and bringing together people who care about music, culture, and the stories behind it.
