This richly illustrated album is an invitation to embark on a journey through an extraordinary world shaped by forms that are both enduring and ephemeral, monumental and intimate. The phenomenon of sculpture lies in its direct encounter with the viewer, often engaging the surrounding space as well and creating a haptic experience. All the artists featured in the book (including Abakanowicz, Szapocznikow, Pastwa, Kozyra, Rajkowska, Górnicki, Simon, Gomulicki) share one thing — they think through spatial form. They work with a variety of materials and in diverse aesthetics; alongside figurative sculpture, there are also abstract, minimalist, conceptual, and performative works.
