Contemporary Lynx is pleased to announce that we are a media patron of A Culture of Excess (Nadmiarowa rzeczywistość), a group exhibition presented at Galeria XX1 in Warsaw.
Organised by the Mazovia Institute of Culture in collaboration with the Faculty of Media Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the exhibition brings together the work of 10 artists who explore the overwhelming conditions of contemporary existence — from overconsumption and technological saturation to identity, social structures, gender norms and the relationship between human and more-than-human life.
Spanning installations, 3D prints, virtual reality, animation, performance and digital works, A Culture of Excess examines both the abundance and scarcity that define the present moment. The exhibition is structured in three interconnected parts, each approaching the notion of “excess” from a different perspective. The final section, opening on 17 September, turns towards questions of patriarchal norms, queer identities, immortality and more-than-human existence.
Among the participating artists are Alicja Rytowska, Aleksandra Wierucka, Alesia Maisei, Borys Oleński, Józef Joachimiak, Magdalena Borzęcka, Marcin Zonenberg, Nina Tabor, Patrycja Wysokińska and Weronika Płatek.
The exhibition remains on view at Galeria XX1 until 3 October 2026.
We invite our readers to discover the exhibition and engage with the artists’ critical and often immersive responses to a reality defined by excess, acceleration and constant change.
